I’ve read on many websites as well as in the official Master Cleanse book that you can skip the maple syrup part of the cleanse…but has anyone done this before? & has it made you unable to do the cleanse for long periods of time? Without the maple syrup it seems like not a lot of calories and vitamins you’re taking in everyday. Also, do I have to take the herbal laxative tea twice a day or can I just take it once at night?

Thanks!

My question again was about master cleanse and there have been some great answers

You can’t skip the maple syrup part of the cleanse, because that’s what gives you the calories, vitamins and minerals you need to get through the cleanse safely. However, there are some alternatives you can use instead of maple syrup if you don’t like the taste or something (evaporated cane juice is one, for example). I’m not sure if you have your heart set on this or not, sweetie, but I wouldn’t do it if I were you. After all, how healthy can it really be (remember: bulimics take laxatives and/or throw up to purge food, so how is this any different)? If you are looking at doing some sort of cleanse, then please at least go see someone who specializes in them and can monitor your progress while you’re doing it, and try to look for a cleanse that involves whole, natural foods instead of syrup and laxatives.

I think there are better cleansing methods out there. Personally I find the master cleanse is too extreme. Try a herbal based method or just change your diet for a while to consume more vegetables and less bread and protein.
