Some people assume that exercising in a hot environment causes you to burn more calories and loss more weight, but it seems to me that would just be water weight lost through sweating. However, if you exercise in colder temperatures, wouldn’t that cause you to burn more calories, as your body must work harder to maintain our relatively high body temperatures?

My question again was about weight loss and there have been some great answers

You are correct! but I suggest warming (temp wise) up and stretching before working out in the cold. It will help avoid injuries.

No. When you exercise, your body and blood heats up naturally. So you do burn more calories when you workout in hot weather. It’s because your heart is doing extra work to keep your body from overheating and more than 70 percent of the energy produced by your muscles during exercise is lost as heat. So the harder you exercise, the hotter your muscles become. In hot weather, not only must your heart pump extra blood to bring oxygen to your muscles, it must also pump hot blood from your heated muscles to your skin where heat can be dissipated. When you work out in cold weather your heart only has to pump blood to your muscles and a little bit to dissipate through your pores. Your body already heats up a lot just from exercising so you don’t need to pump extra blood to stay warm. So your heart works more in hot weather and thus burns more calories, works less in cold weather and burns less calories.
