Pritikin Recipes
I am a 25 year old female and I weigh 225 pounds. I go the gym 4- 5 times a week and I would like to lose as much as possible by October. I am going to start the Atkins diet but I am curious to see how many people have gone on this diet and how much they have lost. Please let me know if you have tried it and motivate me by your success story!!!!

Hi Carrie I used the Atkins diet an lost 41 lbs in 3 months. Once you body gets used to not having carbs the weight starts to come off quick. It is good that you are working out it will accelerate the process even more. I would highly recommend that you look into the chemical that your body produces called leptin. You can follow this link http://www.rex.mymaxgxl.com/products/wxl.html. It has helped me keep the weight off and even lose additional weight once I plateaued. Hopefully this information will help you out. Good luck.
I did the diet and lost 20 pounds in the 1st 2 weeks. It’s a hard diet to stick to since sugar has been cut out but now thanks to items like Splenda it’s not too bad. All the information you need to know is on the Atkins diet web page http://www.atkins.com
Also check out a site like imedmart.com to get some low carb goodies.
Good Luck!
I did the diet and lost more than ten pounds in the first two weeks. The first few days were hard as my body adjusted to the change, but after that I felt so good, I didn’t even care if I lost weight – but I did keep losing. Almost every morning, the scale dropped a bit – a pound, a half a pound every day. And I was never hungry! You have to eat the foods they tell you to, but you can have as much as you want.
I really believe that Dr. Atkins was right in that you need to eat a little fat to feel full, and then you won’t make yourself crazy and binge. A salad with creamy italian dressing, or broccoli with cheese sauce is so satisfying.
I did the diet three years ago and kept the weight off so far. I eat a lot more of vegetables than I ever did, and a lot less of pasta, rice, potato chips, and cake.
I wouldn’t follow that stupid atkins diet or any other fad diet for that matter. Your body needs all micronutrients. As long as carbs and fat come from a nature source, it’s GOOD FOR YOU! If you eat processed foods all the time, the fat and carbs form that will make you fat. However, if you get your fats and carbs from a natural, organic food it will not harm you. Take a look at what I have written on my blog.
