I’m only 5’2" and weight 160 lbs. I’m going on a Caribbean vacation in a month so I need to lose some weight. I’m going to start the Atkins Diet since ppl seemed to lose a lot of weight with it. I was never over weight until like a year ago that I got into a big depression so I know all about exercises and that kinda stuff. What can you guys tell me?

My question again was about atkins diet and there have been some great answers

My man weighed 387. He also went the Adkins way. 0 carbs for 2 weeks then you can add a few per week. He’s down to 351 in only 6 weeks. Just completely cut out bread, rice, pasta, potatoes & sugar. The pounds will melt away.

    Stay away from Atkins.
Think high quality food. Look into the palio diet. Eat fish( animals with fins and scales) and things that someone had to pick and has not been processed.
Most of all eat less calories then you burn. You will lose weight. As far as a months weight loss… Think 1 to 2 lbs per week.

You might be able to lose as much as 20 lbs, but only if you follow the diet exactly.
Some people think calories don’t count on Atkins, and in a way they don’t, it’s carbs, but think about it, you can lose a lot faster on 1200 to 1400 calories than 3000 calories, even on low carb. It isn’t the fat you eat that you have to worry about, it’s over eating protein, because when you eat too much protein, your body can actually turn it into glucose (carbs) in a process called glucogenesis and stored in the liver or in the fat cells. Excess fat you eat is simply excreted from the body unused. so go ahead and put butter on those veggies, but limit the protein to 4 ounces per meal, 3 times a day. that’s plenty.
Do as much exercise as you can (without injury of course) because the more energy you burn in exercise, the faster you lose. Simple walking for an hour or more a day is great to help speed up the fat burning process. Jog if you like, lift weights, any movement will help.
