Pritikin Recipes

I’m thirteen and have been a vegitarian for about a year. I want to become a vegan, but my diet lately has been going down hill. I’ve been eating mc.donalds for breakfast bread and a cookie for lunch and taco-bell for dinner. My mom does not cook, so I need things that are pre-packed or easy to pepare, or even fresh.I’m not picky. What shall I buy and do you have any diet tips? Also what are some ingredients that are animal derived?

My question again was about diet cooking tips and there have been some great answers

Since your only 13 and still growing, you should probably speak to your folks first and maybe contact a good nutritionist.

Learn to experiment with recipes and ingredient. And borrow or buy some good vegan cook books. I like 125 Best Vegan Recipes by Maxine Effinson.

Stay in touch with other vegans. I don’t know any other vegans so Yahoo is great for staying in touch.

Subscribe to newletters to stay up to date. Try veganoutreach they are great.

Make sure you stay healthy and get the right nutrients. Do lots of research, so you know what you need to stay healthy.

    Good luck. =)

    Hala makes some excellent points.

Be sure to google ”The Vegan Society”. It is a good website, for new vegans and long standing vegans alike.

Make sure you eat good, nutritious food, and limit junk foods.
Eat a wide variety of foods, and do a LOT of research.

You can do it, you have my support!! :-)

Fresh fruits and vegetables are easy to prepare and a heck of a lot better for you than your current diet in every way. Explore the produce section, it’s awesome.

Your mother may not cook, but you’re old enough to learn to prepare your own food. Find ways to make your diet healthier before you take the big step into becoming vegan. You can even cook some meals for your family. I’m sure they’ll appreciate that.
