I’m starting a fairly hardcore diet on monday. I need to lose about 5 stone and I have already been doing exercise for a while. Boxing is my favourite and I also cycle everywhere. I always fail with diets because I love cooking for people and going out for drinks and meals etc. It’s a big part of my life and for the next 3 months I won’t be able to do any of that because its one of those shakes and soups diets. Any tips on keeping focussed and coping with the dramatic change?

My question again was about diet cooking tips and there have been some great answers

Find a healthy snack that you LOVE. For me, it’s peanut butter. When I am dieting, my breakfasts are usually celery or some fruit with a maximum amount of 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. PB is healthy, and totally fills you up and 2 tbsp w/ fruit is only 190 calories, which is good if you replace it with a meal. Since I love peanut butter, I have little desire to cheat with junk food, because I can look forward to my one meal with PB.

I also heard that every time you feel like eating something unhealthy, chant a body part that you are unhappy about. For example, if you want to eat some candy right in front of you, go "thunder thighs, thunder thighs" or "love handles, love handles" or something like that. I never tried it, but maybe it’ll work for you!
