I am 26 and a stay at home mom with an 8 mo old baby. I am used to being very busy with school or work. I went to college and worked anywhere from 1-3 jobs the whole time, then I got a job teaching and loved it! Now I hardly do anything. My house is clean and my baby is well taken care of, but beyond that, I don’t do much at all. I don’t know anyone where I live because we moved to a new place last July and so I hardly ever leave the house. My hubby is looking for a new job, so we are most likely about to move again.

I’ve been overweight for as long as I can remember, but never sedintary like I am now. I know all about eating right and exercising. I know about popular diets. In college I did Atkins for a year and lost a lot of weight but had to quit for my health. I am 5’1 and weigh 220 lb. Before baby I was 175 lbs. I eat pretty healthy. I know I am terribly overweight and i need exercise, but I can’t get motivated for the life of me. I don’t know what to do anymore. PLEASE HELP ME
Working outside the home is not an option unless i can have my baby with me. My husband and I made a commitment even before we were married that one of us would always be home with our children. I plan on sticking to that because i think it is VERY important!!

My question again was about popular diets and there have been some great answers

If you have any time to leave the baby with your husband go take a karate or aerobics class. These classes force you to work no matter your lack of motivation. If you cannot get time for this you could do many bodyweight exercises at home. Do some cardio exercises, too. Cardio exercises include: jumping jacks, running, jogging, swimming, running up steps, swimming, or boxing. Do workouts that you enjoy and have fun with. Do not workout only for the sake of losing weight because you will likely give up. Pick one of the cardio exercises that you enjoy and keep to a schedule with it. Find an exercise that you enjoy and stick with it.

Get a "walking/running" stroller and get the hell out of the house and start walking, your baby could use the fresh air and change of scenery as much as you could, plus the exercise won’t hurt any. You can usually find em cheap at walmart or used.

If you can, you could invest in a Gazelle which you can fold up. I like using it and I have an ab roller as well. It’s something you can do at home-doing it with headphones on really helps you not think about the fact that you are exercising. Or you could always walk around the neighborhood and the baby could come with you. Good luck!
