Buying a nice juicer for the home can be very confusing and mind boggling sometimes, considering the fact that there are a lot of them available these days. I first became interested in juicing when I purchased a Lalanne Power Juicer. A lot of people often buy a juicer that is not suitable for their requirements. Prior to going out and looking for a juicing machine it is important to look at what types of food you wish to juice. It is important to understand the differences between the different juicers such as fruit and wheatgrass juicers. I would recommend making a list of the main points you want before going out and buying
On the market there are many different machines available. It can be confusing trying to choose between a centrifugal juicer, a masticating machine, and a twin gear juicer. Centrifugal machines are the most common and most affordable than any other juicers. They process fruits and vegetables at very high speeds and are very effective. They are, however, unsuitable for foods like spinach, wheatgrass and lettuce. To prevent any of the juice going to waste it is frequently advised to buy a single or twin blade device. For these varieties, special kinds of juicers are available. The Miracle-mj 500 electric juicer is one of the types widely available in the shops today. They have the advantage of usually being quite cheap and contain no aluminium parts and are particularly easy to work. Higher quality juices can be made by masticating juicers as they work at lower speeds and cause reduced oxidation of the fruit juice.
I would advise checking the warranty of any machine before purchasing. A guarantee of 5 to 10 years is often available on most quality juicers. It is also often advisable to check the blades prior to purchase as they will frequently require replacing after two to four months of normal use. The output and efficiency of the machine will be reflected by the yield figures quoted on the machine. Ideally you want less waste and more juice. Fruit juice can often be damaged by the oxidation produced by the heat from a high power motor. I would recommend buying a machine with a power output of around 420 watts.
A branded machine such as the Jack Lalanne power juicer is often a better buy than a non-branded appliance. The reason being replacement parts are more readily avaialble and often cheaper.
Todays juicers are multi-functional in nature as they assist in making various food stuffs besides processing vegetables and fruit. They can be used to make nut butters, pasta and ice cream along with many other food stuffs. They really are quite versatile machines.
