I’m an omnivore, my husband is a carnivore (he doesn’t like fish and won’t eat anything green) and next week we are adding a vegetarian to the mix as our friend moves in. There’s no moral issue here; none of us want to force our diet on the others. I’m the cook of the family and have NO problem making veggies, but since we’ll be living together for the next few years, I’m looking for ways to make it work without making two complete separate meals every single day, yet keeping things nutritionally balanced for our vegetarian friend. She eats fish, eggs, and dairy; no red meat or poultry.

I plan to have two nights a week that are vegetarian (husband will deal), but we’d like to have meat on the other nights. Any suggestions for meals that can be easily adapted to have or not-have meat, like spaghetti where I can remove her portion before adding the meat to ours? Any tips from others who’ve been in a similar situation?

Making her cook all her own meals every day isn’t, to my mind, an option. I love to cook and just want to find a way to have it not be TOO exhausting every night! Also, breakfasts are pretty easy (cereal, bagel, pancakes etc) but what should I plan for lunches? She WILL be fending for herself for those but I don’t know what stuff to keep in the house for her for lunch (I do the shopping, too). She doesn’t enjoy cooking.
I couldn’t care less what label you want to put on her, I just want to make things she will enjoy while still making things we’ll enjoy as well. You know, looking down on someone because they don’t eat the way you do is just as bad if you’re vegan as it is if you’re a meat eater.
And you’re right, I misspoke in calling my husband a carnivore, he does eat pasta and potatoes with his meat. I’ve got a LITTLE bit to work with there! Still…

How do I eat healthier without emptying my wallet?

Pritikin Recipes

I have been trying to get back into shape and eat healthier, but money has been really tight lately and I can’t afford to always by fresh fruits and veggies, and other expensive health foods. All i have been eating lately is pasta, hamburger helpers, canned food, pizza, cereal, and basically anything easy and cheap. It is not a very healthy diet and it make it hard to lose Weight, and I probably do not get any nutrients from this current diet. I would like to know if anyone has any tips on how to improve my diet without going broke. I usually cook for two.

Ive been on a diet, and have lost 30 pounds. Last few weeks though ive been slipping bigtime on the diet, im getting bored with the same old thing, and I hit a plateu and got frustrated about that too. I do excersise every day, along with having a job where im on my feet non stop and constantly moving. Anyone have any good diet tips to loose weight quick, not get bored, and get over this plateu I was on? Any supplements youve taken that help with weight loss and appetite control? Sugar cravings and chocolate are my biggest obsticales…I dont really have a problem eating healthy meals, when it comes to snacking though I have a hard time staying away from the junk! Another big problem I have is I dont really know how to cook healthy! Any EASY…QUICK recipies that are good? And not too expensive…Ive been sticking to stuff I dont really have to cook…turkey sandwiches on light wheat bread, special K protien shakes, Special K protien cereal with Soy milk, Fresh fruits and frozen veggies, V8, Light yogurt etc…Any tips, recipes, supplements are very much appreciated!

Any tips for teenage weight loss? (easy diet tips, exercise etc…)?

okay, so I’m 14yrs old, 5′ 6"…and weigh 180 something lbs. I am TIRED of weighing so much! I tried a diet for a while, and it worked….but I went off track and can’t seem to get back on and have now gained back all that I lost. I eat 100% whole grain bread and eat very healthy…but I guess my problem is eating too much too often.(my breakfast is always 3/4 cups of granola cereal or Kashi wheat squares. Lunch is usually an apple and a granola bar…but sometimes I forget my lunch or steal from my friends trays. My mom cooks the meals…so I have no control over that.) I tell myself that if I eat a big lunch or breakfast, I won’t have a snack later, but I always seem to end up have a snack and going overboard!!! I love fruit and most veggies, and unfortunately…carbs. Is there ANYTHING that I can do (without paying for any kind of diet program etc…) to help me loose weight? I can’t exactly go and buy some diet pills or anything or go to weightwatchers. I live in a VERY hilly area, and so it seems difficult to start out a daily running routine in/on such harsh terrain. I’m an extremely shy person and so I absolutely HATE going to the gym. Is there anything I can do to help me loose weight? I’m desperate here! (i want to do this the "healthy way")
Is Acai berry really alright for 14 year olds? I mean…I’ve considered it… but i just don’t want ot risk it if there is any risk in it at all.

What are some popular diets that one would be able to write a compare-contrast paper about?

I need to write a compare-contrast paper on two popular diets– I was wanting do use Weight Watchers as one, but I can’t decide on the second one.

I want to choose something that is very strict with the food– like nutrysystem or jenny craig.

what are some other "interesting" diets?
well, i wanted to do weight watchers becasue you can still eat whatever you want, but you’re watching calories, fat and fiber to create points….

jenny craig food is loaded with salt and so restrictive….

when i went on weight watchers after i had my baby, my diet consisted of coke, twinkies, water and cereal, and i still lost 3 lbs in a week……

the key is moderation!!!!!
