I’m a thirty-year old male with an ectomorphic body type weighing between 125 & 130 lbs. I’ve been working out for four years trying to develop muscle definition, but with little success. Most popular workout routines & diet plans are for losing weight. A trainer had once told me to eat more to gain muscle mass, but after quite some time following his advice I seemed to gain fat on my gut! When I tried eating less, I lost some of the fat but so did my bulk. Are there any workout routines & diet plans specifically for my body type to achieve the right muscle definition (i.e. a well-sculpted body with 6-pack abs)?

My husband was on the Atkins Diet and stopped it. He has now started the diet again. He wants to know what happens when you are in the 1st phase of the diet and you stop losing weight? He can’t cut anything out because he really hasn’t added anything. Any suggestions?

Lots of naturopaths, "experts", and sometimes doctors claim that the body goes through a detoxification process when you undertake certain processes, such as changing diet, fasting, etc. Is there any proof that the body actually rids itself of toxins, and that it goes through symptoms in reverse order of occurrence?
Keep in mind that it is common knowledge that toxins and metals are stored on fat, and that losing weight will eliminate these. Detox is also practiced by drug and alcohol addicts who want to come clean, and this is common practice.

I’m currently about 5’8" and 120 pounds give or take 3 pounds.
I’m sixteen years old, I have a good amount of muscle mass and I’m pretty athletic. I don’t want to hear anything about how losing weight is a bad idea. I know that I can be healthy and weigh 110, which is my goal.
I realize that it’s not important what I weigh, it’s important how much muscle I have compared to how much fat I have. I do know that I haven’t gained much muscle mass since I weighed 110. So, the 10 pounds I gained is mostly fat.

So, I want to lose 10 pounds in 3 months.

Most weight loss plans target people with a significant amount of fat and 10 pounds is only scratching the surface. I want something that will work for someone my age, my build, and with a few basic requirements.

1. I do not eat meat. I need a lot of foods that are high in protein. I also need more iron. I don’t have a lot of either in my current diet.
2. As a general rule, I run 2 miles per day. It’s getting cold out, though, and I don’t have a local gym I can run in. I need other exercises, aerobic and anaerobic that I can be doing indoors. Anyone have any good ideas, share them?
3. I don’t have a lot of money for food right now. I need foods that aren’t expensive. That means none of these, "all organic" diets or any of that.
4. I don’t like many fruits. I can down them if it’s a must, but I’d rather avoid eating more than absolutely necessary.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Tips are helpful. References. Names of popular diets that you hear work. Anything helps.

I am an obese woman for the first time in my life…I would love to hear from others who have tried the Atkins Diet as a way to jump start the process of losing weight. Intensive excersise or a gym program is not an option due to the climate/country in which I live as well as time and finances. Need a program that I can do at home on my own. My job requires that I sit for 9 hours a day which does not help the weight situation…Any and all input appreciated

I’ve started my Atkins diet late May of this year, and I’ve already lost approximately 20 Ibs, I am still doing the same diet until now. I noticed that the weight loss is slowing down (maybe because I was only losing water weight in the beginning), now I started taking Hydroxycut 4.5 to boost up my metabolism. I moderately workout every night before I go to bed, I feel like im not losing weight anymore but skin is getting firmer, is it because I am gaining muscle mass? My goal is to lose 30 lbs by September, will I make it?

14 year old diet tips?

Im 14 and around 14 stone. I’m 5’9 and I want to lose weight. Recently Ive been using dumbells (I know this builds muscle rather than losing weight) and going on my bike half an hour per day. I was wondering if people had any tips or good websites on things I can cook and exercise I can do. All I know about how fit I am now is that I can ride for half an hour without having to stop and I can run 100m in 19 seconds.

What is the best way to avoid saggy skin during a weight loss regiment?

I’m 29, I’m 5’2”. In the past 2.5 weeks i have lost 11 pounds and now weigh 205. I have already noticed a little skin sag.
I reviewed the other questions on this topic. I want to know if it is necessary to stick to the regiment of 2 pounds max per week for weight loss or it’s alright to lose more if you’re doing higher intensity exercises like swimming, running, bicycling.
I’ve been losing weight so fast b/c i’ve cut down on how much food i’ve been eating, working out multiple times a day and cutting down on sleep ( i was sleeping too much previously).
would collagen in skin spring back faster if i lose weight at the slower rate of 2 lbs per week?
even if i lose weight faster than the 2 lbs, and lose weight at the 1 lb/ day as i am now, will my skin shrink to normal eventually?
