Can I just get regular OJ and water it down after Master Cleanse?

Pritikin Recipes

So, I’m going to finish the master cleanse tommorow and on Thursday I have to start the "breaking the fast" part. I don’t have a juicer or oranges and I was just wondering if I could get orange juice from the store, healthy of course, and water it down instead?
Oranges are expensive and I’d have to get enough to last me at least two days.
I’d also have to buy a juicer.
I just spent a ton on buying a bunch of lemons too.

How can I find a weight loss program that works for me?

Pritikin Recipes

I’m currently about 5’8" and 120 pounds give or take 3 pounds.
I’m sixteen years old, I have a good amount of muscle mass and I’m pretty athletic. I don’t want to hear anything about how losing weight is a bad idea. I know that I can be healthy and weigh 110, which is my goal.
I realize that it’s not important what I weigh, it’s important how much muscle I have compared to how much fat I have. I do know that I haven’t gained much muscle mass since I weighed 110. So, the 10 pounds I gained is mostly fat.

So, I want to lose 10 pounds in 3 months.

Most weight loss plans target people with a significant amount of fat and 10 pounds is only scratching the surface. I want something that will work for someone my age, my build, and with a few basic requirements.

1. I do not eat meat. I need a lot of foods that are high in protein. I also need more iron. I don’t have a lot of either in my current diet.
2. As a general rule, I run 2 miles per day. It’s getting cold out, though, and I don’t have a local gym I can run in. I need other exercises, aerobic and anaerobic that I can be doing indoors. Anyone have any good ideas, share them?
3. I don’t have a lot of money for food right now. I need foods that aren’t expensive. That means none of these, "all organic" diets or any of that.
4. I don’t like many fruits. I can down them if it’s a must, but I’d rather avoid eating more than absolutely necessary.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Tips are helpful. References. Names of popular diets that you hear work. Anything helps.

Thanks in advance.

How many 12-foot, adjoining regular hexagons can you fit into one acre?

Pritikin Recipes

This is part 2 to a question I asked earlier about the square footage of a hexagon that is 12 feet from side to side (not point to point).

I am laying out a one-acre parcel of land for a small cemetery. Graves are usually 40" x 96" (8′ x 3.333′ = 26.6666667 square feet). I know that I can get approximately 1,633 regular graves into an acre (1 acre = 43,560 square feet / 26.6666667 = 1,633 graves).

My co-worker wants to lay the acre out using adjoining hexagons (like a one-acre honeycomb), but I contend that if we do so, we can only get two regular size graves into the hexagon without a grave crossing over the line into another hexagon. He says even if we only put two graves into the middle of the hexagon, the area wasted would be "minimal."

Once I know how many 12′ hexagons fit into an acre, I can multiply the answer by 2 (graves) and subtract that from 1,633 to determine how many graves we are losing per acre.

I knew I should have paid more attention in math class.

How do I get past this weight loss plateau?

Pritikin Recipes

I lost 15lbs over the course of the last 3 months averagin 1-1 1/2 lbs lost. I am 5’5" and I am now down to 142 lbs. I still want to lose another 15 lbs (is this okay?).
I have tried eating whatever I want to jumpstart my weight loss but that did not work. Currently I am on a semi-low-carb diet. I have to have some carbs because I get too dizzy. I also work out 3-4 times a week. Cardio for 1/2 hr and then strenghening exercises.
How can I get past this weight loss?
The scale hasn’t budged from 142lbs in 3 weeks.

How Effective are Infrared Saunas for Detoxification?

Pritikin Recipes

I have heard many claims about heavy metals and other toxins being found in laboratory "sweat analysis" — from the sweat produced by infrared saunas. I have looked for the actual (original) studies/lab reports that are being vaguely referred to, but cannot find any. Does anyone know what these sources are, and if they are true? Can infrared saunas detoxify heavy metals, and if so, what are the sources that prove it?

To clarify, I’m not interested in the unreferenced mention of studies (as almost all the infrared sauna manufacturers do: "Scientific studies have shown…" etc. Which ones??). I’m looking for the actual studies themselves. Thanks.

Popular liquid diet in the '80s and '90s?

Pritikin Recipes

This is one of those "I can not remember this and it’s bugging me like crazy" questions. It seems that it started with the letter R and I think it was a fasting liquid diet.
.
I am not looking for a diet to use, I’m just asking for the name of the protein drink type diet used back about 10-15 years ago—for a trivia question.
