How do (some) women over 40 stay so thin?

Pritikin Recipes

Why is it so hard to lose belly fat after 40? I can’t stand having a pooch and I miss my tiny little waistline! Yes I’m sure a little of it is metabolism, because I don’t have time to be as active as I used to, so 25 lbs crept on on me during my late 30′s. So I’ve been working out since January (New Years Resolution) I use my treadmill and some aerobic DVD’s almost daily. On the week-ends I do yard work, I go bike riding and stay in motion.. I try to eat between 1,000 -1,200 calories a day; I’ve cut out fast foods, cokes, sweets and reduced my carbs. So why has it taken me 9 months to lose 10 measly pounds? It’s so frustrating! I used to have such a cute figure! But I still seem "thick" in the middle and seeing myself from the side-view is gross! I can’t lose the gut no matter how many sit ups, push ups, squats, fat-burning I can fit into a day. Urgh! I see other women who are my age but they look so thin how do they do it??? I literally hate wearing jeans anymore because they’re all low-rise which means I have an unsightly roll hanging over the top. I’m not ready to look like a middle aged woman but my body is fighting me! What should I do?….

Okay me and my friend made this deal where whoever gets a six pack first wins. Tips/exercises/diet?

Pritikin Recipes

Here’s my info:
Age: 14
Height: 5′ 8.75"
Weight: 130lb
Misc: I can do 20 push – ups easily, I usually eat an egg or peaches and cottage cheese or maybe a slice of french toast for breakfast, I usually skip lunch((Hey, I just don’t get hungry. O.o Weird, I know, but I have to make myself eat a little something for breakfast.)), but when I do eat it’s something like macaroni and cheese or ramen noodles, or soup, possibly a sandwich with soup or alone. For dinner, I might just snack on corn tortilla chips or some peaches and cottage cheese, or if my dad cooks, I eat a lot of that ((*drool* My dad’s an awesome cook)), and I snack a lot during the day, not a whole lot each time, but maybe an apple, a piece of pie that I made, etc.

And just so you know, this is a fair fight. We are both 14 and we weigh pretty much the same((off by five pounds at the most)). =]

I will await your tips happily!

BY THE BY I’m homeschooled, so track is not an option for me, and I go bowling with a 13 pound ball at least once a week.

Also, I’ve recently started replacing chips and pie for a home made smoothie… No mixes or anything, just fruit and juice.

I hate cooking, but want to eat a healthy and a balanced diet. Any tips on how?

Pritikin Recipes

I have decided to transition to a healthy life style for better living and weight loss. However, with my full schedule, it’s difficult for to consume a prepared meal every time, thus I often resort to snacks and ‘fill-me-ups’. I wanted to know how I can learn to eat healthily, and learn to enjoy cooking while also trying to cure my sugar cravings. Any thoughts and tips would be highly appreciated.
