    Hi there,

Having grown up in the Philippines, it’s going to be nearly impossible for you to keep your diet up. one of the first things filipinos say when they greet each other is, "have you eaten?" to which they reply "yes". so if you visit a lot of houses, just say yes. and they’ll ask you a few times and if you really are somewhat hungry and want something to eat, you say not yet. interesting, isn’t it?fiipino food is pretty good though- rather tasty, and not spicy!

filipinos are really into their food and it is a huge part of their culture (and cultural pride). unlike the states where you can try any int’l food cuisine you want and no one cares, it’s a huge offense to filipinos if you don’t eat and try the food that’s offered to you. you do have to try everything regardless of how it smells or looks- they get easily offended if you don’t try it when they offer it to you ( though they won’t tell it to your face- another cultural thing, they’ll always agree with you).

if you must stick to your diet, tell them that you have high blood pressure and so you can’t eat too many oily foods. filipinos are aware of this condition and will then cut back on the oily dishes. also, there are plenty of amazing fruits- definitely try a yellow mango while you’re there. if you want to skip a meal, skip breakfast (as it is generally a deep fried egg and plenty of rice); just ask them for a fruit breakfast and pandesal (breakfast bread) and coffee

other hints: if you’re sitting at the table, it’s a free for all- expect no passing of the dishes, you have to reach over and grab anything you want or ask them, not much conversation happens at the table so don’t feel obligated to break the awkward silence- they’re just really into their food.

you are expected to have a second helping so make your first helping a small one. when you are satisfied, leave a little food on your plate (half the size of your fist). if you eat all of the food on your plate, culturally it means that you haven’t eaten enough or are not satisfied with the food. also, an interesting thing is that if there is only one serving left of anything, no one will eat it and will offer it to everyone else- the reasoning is that there may be someone else at the table who is hungier than you are so you should let them have it.

smiles! best of luck on your adventure!

    Hi,

I’ve tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don’t work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss (it’s actually a colon cleanse) and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it (it’s 100% natural). The results were excellent. I lost about 20 pounds in 2 months with this detox. That’s why I recommend you check this product at
http://get-trim.info where they have a free trial and you only pay $4.95 shipping and handling.
    Good luck!
