I love to eat bread and butter with pastas galore. Not to mention I’m Philipino and eat rice almost everyday. Was this type of diet supposed to be bad according to Atkins?
I’m not fat. by the way.

    It’s Bull, just another fad diet doesn’t work.
    People have to understand you shouldn’t go on a diet, you should make lifestyle changes.

    Oh boy, there are MANY bad things that a high-carb diet does to your body, including:

    - raising blood sugar, causing insulin to spike.
    - causes diabetes
    - causes heart disease
    - causes cancer
    - causes mood swings
    - highly addictive
    - causes fat storage (obesity)
    - too many more to list. Do some research, the results will shock you.

    you will be. I have seen many phillipino women after 40 and they spread like butter. carbs are nothing but weight gaining facts. you lose weight on the atkins diet that is why it worked. you must be young.

    People are under the mistaken impression that eliminating all carbs is the way to lose weight. They used to say to eliminate all fat. Those are both wrong, because you will die if you eliminate everything but protein. The real thing that people need to do is not eat junk food and workout all the time. Our bodies aren’t made to be sedentary and it;s killing us. Filipino food is delicious by the way.

    there isn’t anything wrong about carbs….its just carbs tend to turn to fat if they aren’t burned off with exercise….so people wanted to stay away from carbs…thats why the atkins diet was so popular….it was basically a no carb diet. if you love to eat carbs, then by all means continue to eat it….you need carbs anyway…they give us energy..and the only way they are harmful is if you eat too much…but anything is harmful if you eat too much of it. thats why you got to eat everything in moderation.
