I am currently on the atkins diet. I have been on the diet for 7 days now and have lost 6 lbs. I will be going through pms this upcoming week and will start my cycle on Saturday. I was just wondering will I gain weight when I am on my menstrual cycle while doing the atkins diet? If so, how long will it take to come back off?

When it’s my time of the month I hold up to 7 pounds of water weight.. as soon as I am done all the extra is gone.. stay off the scale and do not measure yourself while on mensies it will not be accurate. If you also suffer cravings like I do just before I start.. eat something fatty that should keep the cravings at bay.. if you dont have an atkins new diet revolution book I suggest you get one.. most of the questions people have when following this lifestyle are in that book…

Most women retain water when menstruating. Your weight can fluctuate rather significantly during that time. A five lb weight variation is not unusual during your period.
Generally that weight goes away after your period, so don’t freak out if you get on the scale and it looks like most of the weight you lost came back.
Dont use the atkins diet it has caused tons of people tons of problems and may i remind you that carbs feed our brain.

No, you will gain less water weight during your period while on this diet. I was on this diet for 5 months and lost 71 lbs. I felt great the whole time I was on it. However, I would avoid eating too many bbq pork rhinds, they are loaded with sodium and will make you hold water. Remeber, sugar free jello is your friend on this diet. Good luck, you can do it~!!!
